Turntablism is becoming a lost art with laptops becoming the DJ’s “instrument” of choice. Had no idea who these dudes were and what they had been doing for so many years so when I got into Coachella’s Sahara Tent early Friday afternoon they were a great way to kick off an epic weekend. They incorporate a lot of Oldies into their work, juxtapositioning old-timey trumpet flourishes with beat machine claps and the Art of Scratching. It’s a strong bridge between Old and New, carrying the torch of the mixmasters and scratchers of their past.
The French are awesome at making music.
